5 out of 5 stars New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Water Bottle   March 15, 2008

It's a good sub for plastic bottles and I don't have to worry about any
thing from the plastic entering my water if it gets warm.

3 out of 5 stars Buy new sports cap!   February 21, 2008

The cap broke after only 4 days of use. I bought a Klean Canteen sport cap and it is of much better quality. I have used it for two months now without any problems. The bottle is great with the sport grip. Too bad they make poor quality caps. Oh well.....!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect Size   February 1, 2008

I like this bottle. The size is perfect for my needs, and fits into my car's cup holder, and also my fanny packs water bottle pockets. It's the only stainless steel bottle I've found that fits right. The Klean Kanteen's are either too big or too small. I measured the diameter on the bottom with a dail caliper: 3.074". Perfect! I bought two. I am not planning on using it in my bikes, but I tried and it did not fit well - too big like the other reviewers have stated.

I also had a 1 liter Sigg (gave it away), and a 26 oz Klean Kanteen. I know, the KK should be 27 oz, but I measured it, and it's only 26 oz. The KK does fit well into my bike's cage. No taste issues with any of these bottles, including the Sigg. But the Sigg is made out of Aluminum, and even though it is coated, I'm not sure I trust the coating either.

Some of the reviewers here are saying this bottle is also much less than 1 liter, but mine is 1 liter or very close; definitely over 32 oz. Maybe they changed the design since previous reviews.

The stainless steel used seems slightly thinner than the KK. I can see how it would dent easily, so if you are throwing your bottle around a lot, it might not be a good choice. I've also heard that if you let water freeze in the bottle, it will bow out the bottom, making it so it won't stand up right.

The sports top has a hole with a little stopper in it to let air in while drinking. Mine does not chirp, but I can see how it could. I found that I could "adjust" the stopper to prevent air from going through at all, and I could adjust the stopper to allow for easy drinking. When set for easy drinking, it will leak lots of water if you turn it upside down. In the other setting, it will not spill at all. I may be using it as a screw top instead of a sports top, so I like the choice. Like the KK, this one has a rolled lip to allow for easy drinking right from the bottle. The opening is also pretty big, just like the KK, making it easier to clean. The Sigg has a much smaller opening.

3 out of 5 stars A bit cumbersome but cost effective   December 13, 2007

I bought this from a local health food store and was surprised to find an inexpensive option to the Sigg and Kleen Kanteen. This, as the KK, is made in China. Water quality out of it is good but I haven't taken it on any long hot outings yet. The drinking spout does chirp and I've found it harder to suck the water out so I just blow air into it displacing the water so it comes out easily - I can't remember right now if it makes a chirp when I do that, but I had a call center job and used it all the time and had no coworker complaints. It does fit into the drink holder in my car nicely, which considering it's size I was a little surprised. I wouldn't want to take it on a bike - to long/tall. Haven't had any leaking problems. My biggest complaint is the cover for the sipping part doesn't stay on anymore so it just flops around uselessly but is still attached to the bottle - I will be cutting it off soon!

4 out of 5 stars Bike cages and caps   November 25, 2007

Ok, here's the deal with bike bottle cages. This bottle is just barely too big to work well in a metal cage, but I use it with my plastic Profile Kage cages and it fits beautifully. Get the circular cages that are split down the front with the o-ring. They can be had for about $2.50 at Nashbar or Performance. The sport cap is a bit tough to suck water out of. It has a valve to let air into the bottle and the valve is just a little too stiff. It works OK and doesn't leak, but could be better. Definitely get the bundle deal with the screw-on cap. The screw cap fits well and works great. Overall, I would give this bottle 2.5 stars with the sport cap and 5 stars with the screw cap (not the flat cap, the one with the horizontal hole in it in the "Better Together" offer). Once you take the label off, these are the coolest looking bottles out there. They look very manly despite the purple cap and won't get mixed up with anyone else's bottle.
